Ash Wednesday is the first day of the 40 day season of Lent, the season of
preparation for Easter. The service includes the Imposition of Ashes, to
remind us that we are finite creatures, ashes returning to ashes and dust, a

fitting and humbling start to preparing ourselves for the gift of our Lord Je-
sus Christ in His Passion. Lent is the season to go deep inside to reveal that

state of our life of faith and our relationship with God. The Lord’s Supper
will also be celebrated to fill us with grace for the spiritual journey ahead.
