The Minutes of the Christian Education Committee include a panel from Peanuts laminated on cardboard. Charles Schulz (who died in February 2000) created the comic strip in 1952.
Schulz was raised a Lutheran, attended the Church of God, and later taught Sunday school in a Methodist church. Presbyterian minister Robert Short wrote The Gospel According to Peanuts, using examples from Peanuts to explain Christian theology. It became the best-selling non-fiction book in the U.S. in 1965. There was even a sequel, The Parables of Peanuts.

As it turns out, Kathy Jones, our Organist and Director of Music Ministries, cut the cartoon out of a Sunday newspaper and gave it to Jean Tischler, then the Director of Christian Education. Jean tacked it up on the Christian Ed bulletin board where it stayed for a long time. (Sigh!)
