DESCRIPTION:This year’s Christmas Pageant will be an integral part of our family Christmas Eve worship service Monday\, December 24 at 4:00 p.m.  All children and youth\, in the Four-Year-Old Church School class through Senior High\, are invited to be part of the cast for our annual Christmas pageant.   All of the children’s and youth choirs and ensembles will participate:  the Cherub\, Angel\, Celebration Choirs\, Cantata Choir and Gabriel Ringers.  We invite children in the choirs\, Sunday School and community to join.We invite children in the choirs\, Sunday School and community to join. Please contact Kathy Jones via phone\, email or text if you want your child to have a part\, kjones@huguenotchurch.org or 914-400-9377. Speaking parts (second graders and up) will be chosen by November 23rd and the first rehearsal for speaking parts will be on Sunday\, November 25 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. \, and continue afterwards on Sundays 12/2\, 12/9\, 12/16\, and 12/23\, all from noon until 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Those who don’t want a speaking part can have a non-speaking part and the rehearsals will be on Thursday\, December 20th at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday\, 12/23 at noon. Thank you!

DESCRIPTION:The Centennial celebrations will culminate with a Centennial Re-Dedication Service for the Sanctuary on Dec. 16\, 2018 which will also be Bow Tie Sunday  and will be in coordination with Kathy Jones’ plans for a special Music Sunday. \nA little over 100 yrs. ago\, on June 10\, 1917 there was a big party here at Huguenot! After much planning\, design and fund raising –  the corner stone for the New Sanctuary was laid in place – set with the Trowel that is in the display case in the Library entry. This was the beginning of an 18-month building campaign that culminated with the dedication of the Sanctuary on Dec 8\, 1918.  Huguenot had a new home\, World War I had just ended\, this was\, as they say a…. momentous occasion! \nWhen you think of 100 years of life here a Huguenot -what comes to your mind – is it what was happening in the world in 1917?  What was life like in Pelham when the Huguenot congregation decided to repurpose the original Little Red Church\, built in 1876\, and construct our fine\, solid stone sanctuary. The first portion built of what we now refer to as Huguenot Church began as only what is referred to as the Sunday School Wing – which we now call the Chapel and included the Sanctuary\, Friendship Room ( Chapel)\, several  basement classrooms\, the Vestry\, and separate Men’s and Women’s Lounges – the latter with a balcony and outdoor terrace! \nNearly all of the original Sanctuary windows were clear glass at that time –  the wonderful stained-glass windows that we all now enjoy were added over the next 35 years\, mostly in honor or in memory of members of these earlier congregations. Originally there was a Tiffany window where the current Vestry Door stands – this window now adorns the Witherbee Room. A new Odell organ was installed and to pay for all of this a mortgage for $100\,000 from the Bank of New Rochelle was taken out and repaid over the next 30 years. The Sunday school wing opened on June 9\, 1918\, the Sanctuary was completed that fall and dedicated on Dec 8\, 1918. \n100 years is long time \, and a lot has happened – Look at the posters and photos on the bulletin boards and in the Library and see how the people were dressed in 1917 –  Who were these people \, what were their lives like? what did they see for the future? When these were taken\, it was a challenging and conflicted time\, the US had just entered the War in Europe\, 2 months earlier and which would soon escalate to be known as World War I \nTo celebrate and honor the first 100 years of the HMC Sanctuary Wing for which construction started in June 1917 and began serving HMC upon its dedication in Dec. 1918\, the Centennial Planning  Committee was formed in the spring of 2017.

DESCRIPTION:THANKSGIVING-IN-A-BOX   2018 \nGOAL –  800 BOXES \nHelp us feed 800 families in  Westchester this holiday season!! \nThe annual Thanksgiving-in-a-Box food drive for needy families\, now in its 13th year\, will once again be an interfaith Pelham event.  This year the drive will be coordinated through Huguenot Memorial Church\, the Pelham Jewish Center\, Our Lady of Perpetual Help\, St. Catharine’s Parish\, Christ Church\, Pelham Community Church and new this year and Bronxville Reformed Nursery School. The Pelham volunteers will be partnering with Family Services of Westchester and providing boxes of food to families in FSW’s Port Chester\, Tarrytown\, Mount Vernon\, Yonkers\, and Pelham locations.    Manor Market will once again be fulfilling boxes and helping the coordination. ** \nWe are asking volunteers to assemble a box of food for a family of 6-8 people.  Last year\, we were able to provide much needed food for 800 families and we are hoping to do the same again but we can only do that with your help!! \nHOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?  It is really simple! \nSTEP 1: Contact Tina Constable and let her know you’d like to put together a box!  (there is a sign up sheet in front of the church library as well) \nHuguenot Memorial Church:           Tina Constable                     917-215-9543  (tconstable@prh.com) \nSTEP 2. Buy the specific food items (outlined below) and pack the box. \nSTEP 3.
