Mission Ministries
Our church is deeply committed to Christ’s call to serve those in need in both the local and global community. That service takes the form of both hands-on projects and financial assistance shared to make an impact at home and across the globe.
The committee is always looking to add new members or volunteers to support all their efforts. Please direct your questions or interest to Tina Constable, tconstable@prh.com or (917)-215-9543.
Following are some of our many annual activities:
CABARET
One of the highlights of a year at the church is the annual spring Cabaret where church and community members put on an evening of entertainment, food, and a silent auction. The proceeds from the event fund many worthy local, national, and global outreach efforts with our partners. In 2017, the Cabaret raised over $24,000 to distribute. This project started with the faithful efforts of the Presbyterian Women of the church and continues on through the work of this committee.
THANKSGIVING-IN-A-BOX FOOD DRIVE
Our church was the founding organization for this ever-growing effort on Thanksgiving week. Members of the local faith communities in partnership with Manor Market and Family Services of Westchester donate boxes of food to provide 800 families with Thanksgiving dinner in Port Chester, Mt. Vernon, and White Plains.
CHRISTMAS TREE SALE
Each year the church puts on this highly anticipated sale of trees and wreaths and Developing World crafts and gifts. All of the proceeds go to support our youth mission trips and local charities.
MIDNIGHT / BREAKFAST RUNS
Several times a year youth and adult volunteers travel into New York City on “runs” to deliver food and clothing to the homeless. The congregation supports their efforts by donating and preparing the items needed.
HOPE COMMUNITY SOUP KITCHEN
Huguenot members prepare meals once a month and volunteers serve in this New Rochelle kitchen. Since 1984, HOPE has provided hot, nutritious meals to people experiencing food insecurity.
HOLIDAY ADOPT-A-FAMILY
Each year Westchester families with children in need are identified and basic necessities and holiday gifts are collected by the congregation.
FUN RUN
Each spring the church hosts a 5k and ½ mile run along the streets of Pelham. The proceeds from the event go to a worthy cause. This year they will go to the Rotary Club in their support of the hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
SUMMER YOUTH MISSION TRIPS
Annually, our church organizes and provides funds for youth from the church and the wider community to go on a domestic and a Nicaragua mission trip.
