Children & Youth
Huguenot Memorial Church offers a wealth of programs for both children and youth.
Children

Sunday School
Huguenot Sunday School runs during our 10am worship service. After our call to worship, the children come forward to hear a message before they depart for their own time. Our Sunday School curriculum is based on the Godly Play model created by Jerome Berryman which encourages reflection, questioning, and exploration. Each week the children will hear a story presented with interactive props where they will have a chance to wonder together about the mystery of faith. After the story presentation, they have choices of crafts and games to reinforce the lesson.

Children’s Choir
The Huguenot Children’s Choir has been an institution in Pelham for over two decades. This choir performs in worship once a month and has many beloved traditions including a fall Trunk or Treat and a traditional Christmas pageant on Christmas Eve. Rehearsals are on Thursday afternoons at 3:30 for younger children and 4:30 for ages second grade and up. Choir gives a space for children to learn the basics of singing techniques in a group setting while also enjoying crafts, fellowship, and food together.
Youth

Youth Group
The Huguenot Youth Group is open to all youth ages 6th grade and up. We meet on Monday nights from 6-7pm. In these meetings, we share dinner, enjoy games and fellowship, and explore spiritual questions together. All youth, not just Huguenot members, are welcome to attend.
In addition to our Monday night program, Huguenot Youth Group hosts monthly social events. These are typically on Pelham public school early release days or Sunday afternoons and include outings to Dave and Buster’s, Sky Zone, Bowling, and many more. Confirmation
Huguenot offers confirmation classes for youth ages 8th grade and up in the spring. Our confirmation program is designed to help youth discern whether they would like to take the step of personally affirming their baptismal vows in confirmation in order to become church members. Over the course of seven interactive classes, we explore the big topics of the Christian faith in a Presbyterian tradition including baptism, Scripture, ethics, and doctrine of God. Each year’s confirmands also go on an overnight retreat together. Contact Monty at christianeducation@huguenotchurch.org to learn more about confirmation at Huguenot.

Trips
Youth trips offer a unique opportunity for teens to form relationships, go deeper in their faith, and serve others. For many years, Huguenot has offered a mission trip for high school students. We have had both domestic and international trips that have involved practical service to under-resourced groups and immersion in varied cultures. This trip has always been open to youth from across the community regardless of whether they are Huguenot members. In addition, we have held summer trips to Montreat Youth Conferences, a PC(USA) affiliated camp for high school students.
